Tips For Hiring a CASp

A thorough CASp Inspection for a small to medium size commercial facilities generally costs between $800 - $2000 depending on the scope of areas and elements being evaluated. Be Aware of CASp inspectors that offer services significantly lower than this range. Any certified CASp can conduct site surveys and provide certificates of inspection, however the quality of surveys and reporting is not well regulated by the State of California. A poorly evaluated site that is often inspected in minutes rather than hours can result in missed architectural barriers that can expose your facility to an ADA lawsuit. The old adage “You get what you pay for” certainly rings true for CASp reports.

When interviewing CASp inspectors, ask for:

  • References

  • Sample Reports,

  • Clear Contracts Detailing the Scope of Inspection

  • Proof of (E&O) Insurance.

All quality CASp Inspectors should be able to provide these documents without hesitation.
